Our expertise
At Spruce Creative, branding, marketing, graphic design and web development are about more than selling a product. They’re about helping our clients communicate who they are and what they do to the rest of the world. They’re about making the world a better place by sharing information, stories and ideas.
Through our work experience and the individual interests of our team, Spruce Creative has developed a unique set of expertise that is geared towards supporting community engagement and community building in four key sectors.

Sports, Arts and Culture
Sports, arts and culture are three of the most important ways that communities come together. Something we know first-hand. We’ve helped market Canada’s biggest running weekend since 2008, written municipal arts strategies, and supported one-off and ongoing events. Artists, athletes and organizers in their own right, members of our team have helped market, organize and grow local festivals, and continue to give their time to community arts and culture programs. Which means that if you are looking for support in reaching the community through sports, arts and culture, we’re ready to hit the ground running.
Indigenous Relations
Under the leadership of Paul Marconi, member of the Métis Nation of Ontario, and through partnerships with the First Peoples Group, Spruce Creative has developed extensive expertise and ongoing relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations. We collaborate closely with our Indigenous partners and clients to develop marketing campaigns and materials that are rooted in an Indigenous approach. Our team has worked in and visited First Nations and Métis communities across Ontario and Canada, as well as with Inuit communities in Ottawa, Quebec and Nunavut. Whether it’s advocating for Indigenous rights, bringing awareness to the experiences of Indigenous women, or showcasing Indigenous education, our team undertakes each project with honour, respect and a desire to support Indigenous people from coast to coast to coast.
Non-profit and non-government organizations (NGO)
Non-profit and non-government organizations (NGOs) play a critical role in bringing communities together. However, marketing and getting information out to members, stakeholders and the public can sometimes extend beyond the skill-set and capacity of the internal team. With over a decade’s worth of experience working with not-for-profit organizations and associations, our team is able to quickly integrate with your team to offer the support needed to ensure your message gets out.
From building membership websites, brand development and stakeholder communications, to creating a targeted campaign, our team knows how to determine the right scope and approach to fit your goals and your budget. Our understanding of the regional, national and international landscape, and commitment to bringing good work to the public, make us excellent partners when it comes to developing branding and marketing strategies for non-profits and NGOs.
Infrastructure & Community Development
Community building starts where we work and play. It happens in our streets, on public transportation, around public infrastructure and in local businesses. Infrastructure and community foster tourism, creativity, connectivity and relationships. They are at the heart of who we are and where we are going.
As a creative marketing agency with deep ties to the Ottawa community, we know how important it is to support organizations and businesses that build community. We’ve worked with hospitals, sporting events, local food providers and municipal transit to foster community development and keep our neighbours informed. Our team is passionate about the city we live in, the places we are from, and about supporting the growth of communities across Ontario and Canada. We are always excited and curious about projects that have the potential to shape communities in positive new ways.
